There is no denying that the 29th India Day Parade is one of the biggest independence day festivities in the states. With that being said, the Federation of Indian Association has gone all out to make this the most memorable celebration of Independence. This year's parade being held on August 16 on Madison Avenue will be graced by Bollywood superstar Shilpa Shetty as the grand marshal. Along with her will be R&B artist Jay Sean, whose song 'Down' is listed as number 6 in the Hot Billboard 100 and in the top 5 list in iTunes. Also joining the festivities are Suzzane, a budding star from the Oscar-winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire' and singer Aishwarya of "Chhote Ustaad" fame. The parade will be 6 hours of non-stop excitement with floats, food, and a cultural program filled with top-notch performances. This year, the motto of FIA is ''Force In Action'' and the organizers said over the years ''FIA has blossomed into a commendable organization that has become an effective mouthpiece for the community.'' The organizers added that the parade, whose theme is stated to be ''Walk For Your Motherland,'' is held to represent progress and unity of India to other ethnic communities in the area.
