Being the global icon that he is, Shahrukh Khan has been invited to the homes of some very powerful people. Well now King Khan is invited for dinner by Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The famous actor turned politician would like to meet Shahrukh Khan on September 20 in Washington as an effort to diffuse what has turned into a bit of a diplomatic row.
It is good to see that the Governor is responding to the fact that Shahrukh Khan was detained for nearly two hours after what many consider to be racial profiling by U.S. border officials. This incident occurred in the Newark, New Jersey airport on the 15th.
Shahrukh Khan was said to have found his experience at Newark Airport "embarrassing". He also mentioned that he will not frequent the U.S. as often and he would prefer not to travel with his family to the States.
Returning back home to Mumbai, the star explained how the experience had affected him."I am scared of authorities and rules, so I try to follow the rules of the country I travel to," he said."Whenever I am in America, I have to report at least two hours in advance while traveling within the country for security reasons - they ask me to take off my clothes and shoes, and I do that. But I never experienced this kind of treatment."
This is an unfortunate situation and it will be interesting to see what Shahrukh Khan does to educate the public about how he is one of many people that have gone through this. So far SRK has not mentioned how or even if he will take action regarding this. Also it is still not clear whether or not the actor has accepted the invitation by Governor Schwarzenegger.
What are your thoughts on this situation and what would you do if you were Shahrukh Khan?
