பொன்னியின் செலவன். தமிழில் வாசகன் என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டு யார் சுற்றினாலும் பொன்னியின் செல்வன் பற்றி கொஞ்சமேனும் தெரிந்திருப்பர். இணையத்தளங்களில் சுற்றி சுற்றி சுழற்றி சுழற்றி வளைத்து நெளித்து எழுதிவருகிறார்கள்.

பொன்னியின் செலவனை திரையில் காண்பது என்பது அரை நூற்றாண்டுகளாக தமிழனின் எதிர்பார்ப்பாக இருக்கிறது. பெரிய பெரிய புத்தகங்களாக ஐந்து பாகங்கள் எழுதப்பட்ட புதினம் அது. சில {பல} ஆண்டுகள் தொடர்கதையாக வந்த கதை . தனியாக திரைக்கதை எதுவும் எழுத வேண்டிய அவசியமில்லாமல் கதையே திரைக் கதையாய் அமைந்த நூல் அது. அவ்வளவு விறுவிறுப்பான கதை திரைக்கதை கையில் இருக்கும் போது அதை ஏன் திரைப்படமாக எடுக்கவில்லை?

நாடோடி மன்னன், உத்தமபுத்திரன், வஞ்சிக் கோட்டை வாலிபன் , ஒளவையார், போன்ற படங்கள் வந்த காலத்திலேயே எடுத்திருக்கலாம். பட்ஜெட் ஓரளவு கட்டுப்பாட்டில் இருந்திருக்கும். இருந்தாலும் எடுக்கவில்லை. எடுக்காததன் காரணமாக சில விஷயங்களை கூறலாம்.

கதையின் போக்கு:-
கதையில் பல இடங்களில் பலமுக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்கள் தென்படுகின்றன. பொருத்தமான ஆட்கள் கிடைக்காமல் போயிருக்கலாம். ஆதித்த கரிகாலர், அருண்மொப்ழிவர்மர், வந்திய தேவன் போன்ற பாத்திரங்களுக்கு சரியான ஆட்கள், ஈகோ விட்டுக் கொடுத்து நடிக்கும் சூழ்நிலை இல்லாமல் போயிருக்கலாம்.

பட்ஜெட்:-
எழுபதுகளில் நிறைய நாயகர்கள், நாயகிகள் இருந்தாலும் பட்ஜெட் அதிகமாக வந்திருக்கக் கூடிய வாய்ப்புகள். கலரில் எடுத்தாக வேண்டிய கட்டாயம். ஒருவேளை ராஜராஜ சோழன் படத்திற்கு கூட முதலில் இந்தக் கதையை தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருக்க கூடிய வாய்ப்புகளே அதிகம். பட்ஜெட் மிக மிக அதிகமாக போயிருக்கும்.

முடிவு:-
புதினத்தின் முடிவில் பொன்னியின் செல்வன் மகுடத்தைத் தூக்கி உத்தமச் சோழன் தலையில் சூடுவதை சினிமா பிரம்மாக்களும், சராசரி ரசிகர்களும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்வார்களா.... கண்டிப்பாக வாய்ப்பில்லை. பெரிய நடிகர்களின் ரசிகர்கள் தீக்குளிக்க க் கூட தயங்க மாட்டார்கள். சரித்திர கதையாய் போய்விட்டதால் முடிவை மாற்றவேவேவே முடியாது.

Shahid Kapur to Star with Anushka Sharma in Yash Raj's Next Film

Pretty Anushka Sharma landed every new actress's dream debut in Yash Raj's 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' opposite Shahrukh Khan, and also signed onto an exclusive three film deal with Yash Raj Films during which she can not star in any other films. Ever since that announcement everyone's been buzzing about what her next film would be, well the wait is over!

It's been revealed that Anushka will star opposite Shahid Kapur in her next Yash Raj Film. This will be both Anushka and Shahid's second film for the banner. Shahid is also starring in the forthcoming film, 'Hadippa' with Rani Mukherji. Parmeet Sethi, who started in Yash Raj films as an actor in the movie "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" and did small roles in other Bollywood films before going into TV soaps will be debuting as a director for Anushka's next film. Parmeet Sethi has also written the script and Aditya Chopra was impressed with the story. But alas, those are the only details we have so far. We'll be sure to keep you up to date with any new details.

Maharashtra Police: IPL Should be Held After Polls

With many issues regarding the scheduling of the DLF Indian Premier League and the conflict the schedule has with the general elections in India, Maharashtra Police have a suggestion for the league: simply start the season after the polls close. The police department wants the six week tournament postponed saying providing security for both IPL matches and the elections will put extra strain on the forces.

Maharashtra's DG (Elections) Suprabhat Chakravarty said that his forces would be too preoccupied with securing the general public during elections rather than the tournament and suggested that the league be put off till after the elections. The second season of the DLF Indian Premier League is slated to begin April 10.

"There is no point in putting extra strain on policemen. They are already busy due to elections. Even if there is no election at the venue where the IPL is being held, those people would be very busy with bandobast duty. It is a very strenuous duty," Chakravarty said.

While elections are scheduled to end on May 14, Suprabhat Chakravarty is not suggesting that the season be pushed back until then.

"So, where is the need to put extra strain? I mean, it can always be held after April 30 when the Maharashtra polling is over. Election period will be still on but will be a little better off. Give it a couple of days' gap and then hold it. That is my personal view," he added.

The problem that comes with postponing the event is that the Twenty20 World Cup begins in England on June 5, an event many current Indian Premier League players would join. Adding to the frustration is that because of the many cricket tournaments, events, and seasons taking place all over the world, there is no window of opportunity left to hold a six week tournament. While IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi declined to comment on the latest development, tournament director Neeraj Malhotra said the Twenty20 league may shift a few matches out of Maharashtra as some sort of concession to ease the thoughts of security for a bit.

50 Cent Compares Jay-Z To Gandhi

Peaceful protests for Jay-Z? Well not exactly. And you also can't say he's starving. So why did 50 Cent feel the need to compare him to Mahatma Gandhi? Jay-Z did fight to get people in third world countries around the world water, but he isn't exactly your modern day martyr.

In a recent issue of XXL Magazine the US' biggest Hip Hop publication, 50 Cent made the comparison saying "Jay-Z is Gandhi.. He'll bear disrespect for what? For working to be in a great position? So for creating the comfort that he desires in his life, he has to bear disrespect. Because they'd like to be where he is. That's an interesting fact because Jay would rather let em go."

Now let's not take this out of context. What 50 Cent meant by that was instead of Jay-Z retaliating at every rapper taking a shot at him, he takes the peaceful route similar to Gandhi and moves on without firing back.

50 Cent is the exact opposite. "My take on it is yeah, I'm gonna say something back and he gonna wish he never said what he said." It seems like he can't get enough of some good rap beef.

They're forever battling over who is the king of New York Hip Hop, but 50 Cent and Jay-Z seem to have a love/hate relationship. We can't forget the beef they had earlier in their careers where Jay-Z felt the need to shout out 50 Cent in a derogatory way. "I'm bout a dollar what the f*ck is 50 Cent." Jay-Z yelled this out at a show calling out the up and coming rapper for taking shots at him on his song 'How To Rob'.

So what do you guys think of this comparison? Jay-Z a modern day Gandhi? I really don't think so but do you think 50 Cent is valid in saying Jay-Z is a bearer of peace or is 50 Cent just too obsessed with rap beef?

50 Cent Preps For A Big Comeback In 2009

50 Cent is ready to take over the big screen, small screen, once more. New York City DJ Funkmaster Flex premiered his new single 'I Get It In' last week on hip-hop radio station Hot97. It is the second single for his upcoming album 'Before I Self-Destruct,' his first solo album since 2007's 'Curtis'.

'I Get It In' reunites 50 Cent with his boss and frequent collaborator Dr. Dre, who produced the track. 'Get Up' was the first single released for 'Before I Self Destruct,' which was due to be released on December 9th, but has since been delayed to March in order to generate buzz for the new single.

'I Get It In' wasn't the only song that came out. A couple of other 50 Cent songs leaked online last week. A song titled "Play This On The Radio" made its rounds through various hip-hop sites, stirring up a bit of controversy along the way as there were a couple of lines directed at the arguable hip-hop king of 2008, Lil Wayne.
In the song, 50 Cent said, "And I'm on your heels Mr. Carter, I heard you. You want me to die ugly? Don't end up on the list."

While 50 Cent has been pretty quiet on the mic recently, he has remained busy with other projects, including his latest video game, "Blood In The Sand," the follow up to the successful 2005 video game, '50 Cent: Bulletproof.' He has also continued making music with his group G-Unit, who released their last album 'T.O.S. (Terminate On Sight)' this past July, in addition to releasing several mixtapes. His social networking site, Thisis50.com, also debuted last year.

50 Cent is also trying his hand at acting once again by signing on to act in two movies, '13' and 'Dead Man Running.' Both films are still in production. According to SOHH.com, he is also starting up a new film production company called Cheetah Vision, with his first film project due sometime this year.

50 Cent Is Second Highest Earning African American Entertainer

The numbers are in and this time around 50 Cent has come out on top… well almost! Forbes Magazine has just released their list of the top earning African American entertainers and 50 has come in number two, second only to Miss Oprah Winfrey! How exciting! With his jewelry, fancy cars, and incredible houses, you can’t be surprised! So just how much did the hip-hop superstar make in a year? Forbes reports from June 2007 to June 2008 he raked in $150 million! If that’s what second place feels like, I wouldn’t mind being runner-up!! Oprah on the other hand took home $275 million from June 2007 to June 2008. Sorry 50, she’s just one person you can’t beat.

So how did he make all that cash? Well, let’s break it down. He has his record label, G-Unit Records and his clothing line and shoe companies of the same name. Then there’s his multi million dollar deal with Vitamin Water as well as deals with Right Guard and General Motors. Plus there’s his social networking website, thisis50.com, his short lived reality series on MTV, ‘The Money and the Power’ (which was canceled after only a month because of poor ratings) and of course revenues from his album, ‘Curtis’ which was released in September 2007. When you work as hard as he has, you can see how he has been able to make this kind of money, and that’s without releasing a solo album! 50 Cent is proving that even in a bad economy, he is recession proof!

Now with 2009 here, 50 Cent is ready to keep his empire going strong. He is all set to release his last contractual album with Interscope Records, ‘Before I Self Destruct,’ and if it does well he might just surpass his $150 million mark. Wow, others can only dream. 50 Cent's Album Pushed Back While Eminem's Album Is Moved Up

The wait for 50 Cent's latest album just got a little bit longer. His new album titled 'Before I Self-Destruct' has been pushed back to an unknown date. What we do know is that the album's not coming out until Eminem releases his highly anticipated album 'Relapse.'

"They should expect Em's album to come out first," 50 Cent told radio personality Howard Stern Wednesday. "'Crack a Bottle' ... that song actually was recorded for my album, and it may make it to Em's record because his album's coming first. We might just record something new."

The album, which was initially due on December 9 and then sometime this coming March, is his supposed final album for Interscope Records not including a Greatest Hits album. Eminem, who hasn't released a studio album since 'Curtain Call: The Hits' in 2005, has been laying low but released a song called 'Crack A Bottle' featuring 50 Cent and label mate Dr. Dre that shot all the way up to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold 500,000 downloads in its first week at iTunes. Now, there's a video being shot for the song. Em's manager Paul Rosenberg says the video should be out within two weeks. That should be crazy!

There's a little bit of confusion as to who is the lead artist on this song. 50 Cent, Eminem, and Dr. Dre, nicknamed by some as 'The Three Headed Monster,' are all working on their respective albums at the same time. Considering that the song leaked, it could be on any or all of their albums. Well, the song did go to #1, so if I were them, I'd fight tooth and nail to get that song on my album.

The only puzzling thing is that while we know now Eminem will come out before 50 does, we're not sure when Eminem comes out. Now word is that 'Before I Self-Destruct' will come out sometime this summer. That's great news since Eminem wasn't anticipated to release 'Relapse' until later this year. 50's album gets delayed while his boss gets moved up. What a coincidence!

50 Cent's staying busy though. He's got his video game 'Blood on the Sand' out, his social networking site, thisis50.com, and he always manages to stay in some rap beef, feuding with Miami rapper Rick Ross. Just because the album's not out doesn't mean he's still not hard at work. He did, however, prove to be correct about the goal he set for his time as an artist at Shady /Aftermath Records back in 2003 when he was on the verge of superstardom.

"See, what happens is, I think that people forget that I'm actually Eminem's artist because I've had so much success on my own and I moved away from it. But if you can look back, the very first interview I did - we were on the set of 'In Da Club' - it was myself, Eminem and Dr. Dre. I said my goal was to fit in with Eminem and Dr. Dre. I didn't mean to fit in under Eminem and Dr. Dre - I meant to fit in as an equal party. And that's what I achieved over this time period," 50 Cent said.

While I'm usually not too pleased when hearing about another album being delayed, this one might be beneficial to 50 Cent. The songs he was putting out like the aforementioned 'Get It In' and 'Get Up' just don't stack up to the songs we all know he's capable of making. A little less time on thisis50.com and a little more time fine tuning the album wouldn't hurt at all. The cool compensation is that this Eminem album is right around the corner. It's been almost five years so you know he's gonna bring it on this album.

Neil Nitin Mukesh Gets Bashed Up

Actors have to endure a lot when they're filming a movie and sometimes they get injured. Well this time it was poor Neil Nitin Mukesh who suffered during a scene.

Go figure, it occurred during a torture scene for the new Madhur Bhandharkar film titled 'Jail.' Neil Nitin Mukesh was reportedly a little bashed up by one of his co-stars. He told sources about what exactly went down

"It was a scene in which I was tied up for interrogation and my co-actor Vicky-he's a great person who gets into the skin of his character-thought that he would make the interrogation look as real as possible. He started hitting me very hard and it really took me by surprise. I was shocked...People thought that I was fine while receiving the blows and so Madhur did not say cut. It was a scene of intense physical assault and I was bashed up completely by him. The first slap was right on my ear and till now I could feel my ear buzzing. I was hoping that there was no damage. My head came under some really tight blows and my hair was pulled so hard that I cried out in pain. But I have no grudge against him as he did not intend to hurt me. The scene, however, looks brilliant and I'm hoping my ear is fine too."

Madhur Bhandharkar expressed his concern by saying "Neil's body came under heavy beating during the scene. There was injury but he is fine now. We were really scared but when he was going through the scene we all thought that he was fine. I'm really thankful that nothing major has happened." So are we! We hope Neil Nitin Mukesh has a full recovery.

Kay Kay was given a very HOT scene to be shot with racy Ranaut in Anurag Basu's flick 'Metro'. Here's a picture from the scene pre kiss as we dont want to spoil it for you. Kay Kay plays a businessman too tired to lead a family life and looks for a young and pretty girl, Ranaut, for an affair.
