Step back Hollywood hopefuls, Bollywood stars are the new actors in town! Woody Allen has cast Freida Pinto to star in his as of yet untitled film, and to finish off his cast he reeled in longtime Bollywood star, Anupam Kher, to play Pinto’s father.
Kher has been a Bollywood staple for 25 years. His acting debut came in 1982 with the move Aagman, and his career has flourished since. His impressive resume includes actor, TV host, director, and producer; certainly, an accomplished man. And now, he can add one more notch on his belt: working with legendary Hollywood filmmaker, Woody Allen.
Woody Allen has made many acclaimed films such as, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex, and Bullets Over Broadway, just to name a few. Mr. Allen usually casts high profile Hollywood stars to play his most coveted roles, but this time he has ventured outside his status quo.
Anupam Kher will star alongside Hollywood hotshots, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman. Kher said, “To be in a Woody Allen film is a dream come true for me.” We will see how his Hollywood debut turns out.
Let us know what you think about the growing presence of Bollywood stars in Hollywood films? Do you like this fusion? Or would you rather keep the two movie industries as separate as possible?
