Chris Brown was formerly charged for his attack on ex-girlfriend Rihanna in a Los Angeles court yesterday. The five year probation sentence includes six months of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling.
The R&B artist will perform community labor in his home state Virginia, removing graffiti and picking up trash. He will also need to pay significant fines.
Last but not least, Chris Brown was sentenced to stay away from Rihanna for five years!
"There were no surprises in court this afternoon. The court imposed the sentence," said Rihanna's attorney, Donald Etra.
The court documents released in connection with the case show a history of violence between the two pop stars. In a fight that took place three months before Brown’s latest attack on Rihanna, she reportedly slapped him and he pushed her into a wall.
The incident that led to Chris Brown’s arrest in February allegedly started when he received a text from a former girlfriend and Rihanna became “enraged.” Chris Brown answered by shoving her out of the car, spurring the violent spat.
"I want to take responsibility for my mistake," Brown has told an officer, saying "I am totally remorseful for what I have done."
