'Dil Bole Hadippa!' reunites music composer Pritam with Yash Raj after doing the 'Dhoom' films. This time, he comes up with a punjabi flavored soundtrack. I would say that this album is for those who like Punjabi music. The album has five quick and foot-tapping numbers soaked with Punjabi masala.
The album starts with the title track "Hadippa", which is sung actively by the great Mika Singh. It sets the attitude for a fun, masti album and a colorful video set in a Punjabi village. The remix is also as great as the original, using the dhol as the main instrument with the 'Dhoom' kind of feel. The remix video shows Shahid Kapoor looking super hot, as usual and a slim Rani Mukherji coming back with a bang.
The next track "Discowale Khisko", sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, KK and Rana Mazumdar is an upbeat Punjabi dance number giving a mix of dhol beats and hard guitar playing. The remix is likeable adding more color and flavor to the original.
"Ishq Hi Rab Hai" is a love song sung by the charming voice of Shreya Ghoshal with the complements of Sonu Niigaam. This song has a familiar tune with other Yash Raj films and it brings images of a colorful salwar clothed Rani running across the mustard fields and Shahid chewing on sugarcane and singing to her. It is a slow track different from the rest of the album, yet a romantic track all its own.
"Bhangra Bistar" is a Punjabi item song featuring Alisha Chinai at her best, Sunidhi Chauhan going over the top and Hard Kaur rocking the house down. It has an appealing, danceable chorus. This upbeat track is definitely worth listening to.
The last track "Gym Shim" has been composed and sung by the band Joshilay. It is an active track that motivates you to work out. It is surely a fun track to exercise to.
On the whole, Pritam has taken a break from his signature compositions to create music for 'Dil Bole Hadippa!'. This album would be worth 3 out of 5 for bringing the Punjabi aroma to all the tracks to give the relevant feel of the film.
