First she went to endorse a milkshake under her name and now she is being called a 'pure soul'. After being away for months in the US - where she's been moving in elite circles and having milkshakes named after her - the sexy actress Mallika Sherawat went to Karnataka to be part of a special religious ceremony at Shri Ramachandrapur mutt in Gokarna.

She took blessings from none other than the mutt's present pontiff, Sri Sri Ragaveshwara Bharathi Swami, who, amusingly, called Mallika "a pure soul". Sri Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji, the 36th and present pontiff of Shree Ramachandrapura Math, made a Special invitation to Mallika Sherawat to visit his new ashram in Karnataka and organized a number of special pujas in her honor. Mallika Sherawat received the invite while staying in Los Angeles for the post-production of 'Hisss' and made the trip back to India especially for the occasion, which included extensive pujas with 600 lotus flowers.

The actress, besides offering her prayers, broke ground for the building of a special Hanuman temple near a cave, where Lord Hanuman is believed to have been born. The mutt plans to build a massive, 15-storey high temple devoted to Hanuman.
Reports say Mallika took part in special, elaborate pujas for which priests were summoned from as far as Kerala and Mangalore.

Sherawat said, "After having spent most of my time recently in the US, it was a great honor for me to make a special trip back to India to meet the Shankaracharya. In a very special way it reconnected me to my Hindu roots. The experience was truly one of the best of my life."
The actress has been working on the post-production work of director Jennifer Lynch's film 'Hisss' in which she plays a snake-woman.
Do you think that Mallika Sherawat is considered a 'pure soul'? Give us your opinion.

Priyanka Chopra Launches Website for Pyaar Impossible

Actress Priyanka Chopra launched the website for Yash Raj Films' forthcoming movie 'Pyaar Impossible' yesterday at YRF Studios in Mumbai. Actor Uday Chopra had left for the next shooting schedule of the film and hence could not be present at the press conference had a special message on video for all.

Actor and Director of 'Roadside Romeo' Jugal Hansraj directs Uday Chopra, Priyanka Chopra, and Dino Morea in this romantic comedy which went on floors this April and is due to release towards the end of the year. This will be the second time Jugal Hansraj and Uday Chopra working together after their 2000 hit film 'Mohabbatein'.

The website will feature videos on set from the movie with your host actor Uday Chopra that will be updated. A recent video was posted with the entire cast of the movie doing a puja to give the blessings for the start of this film. On the website, you can catch fresh videos and the latest pictures with loads of behind-the-scenes moments on this first of its kind website.
As far as similarities go, Priyanka denied that the film is based on Hollywood's 'Notting Hill' by saying, "It's not at all true because in 'Notting Hill', Julia Roberts plays a superstar and the guy is just a normal guy but in 'Pyaar Impossible' I do not play a superstar but just a normal girl." As for the possibility of the film being an adaptation of American TV series 'The Beauty and The Geek', Priyanka said the only fact in common between the two is that a geek and a beauty fall in love otherwise it's a totally different script.

'Pyaar Impossible' is the story of two characters: Abhay (Uday) and Alisha (Priyanka). It is a love story between Abhay who is a nerdy, awkward, socially challenged and bespectacled geek and Alisha who is the epitome of beauty that any man would willingly rip his heart out for.
And when these two worlds collide you get:
1 Beauty + 1 Geek = Pyaar Impossible!
So tell us what you think about the movie and the website which you can visit on this link: http://www.pyaarimpossible.in/. Do you like the layout of the website? Will this be a successful film for Jugal after his failure with 'Roadside Romeo'? Write your feedback on this upcoming film.

Kanye West Hates Twitter

Diddy, Ashton Kutcher, and tons of other celebrities have gotten hooked onto the popular and growing blogging website Twitter. If they want to let you know what they are doing at that very point in time, they can do so in a matter of seconds. Well, a certain celebrity isn't joining everyone else in the Tweeting game. That man would be Kanye West, who is not usually known for being a trend follower anyway. He's more of a fan of the good old fashioned blog. Kanye West took to that blog today letting everyone out there know that he is not down with Twitter.
"I don't have a f***ing Twitter" Kanye wrote on his KanyeUniverseCity.com blog. Why would I use Twitter? I only blog 5% of what I'm up to in the first place. I'm actually slow delivering content because I'm too busy actually busy being creative most of the time and if I'm not and I'm just laying on a beach I wouldn't tell the world." Tell 'em how you really feel, Kanye!
Kanye West's latest tirade is directed at "losers making fake Kanye West Twitter accounts." This tends to happen. I'm sure you guys have gone to a MySpace or Facebook account of an artist that you thought had a legit site but turned out to be fraudulent. While those sites are easier to pick up, because Twitter is predicated on what that person is saying specifically, people can confuse the messages, or "Tweets" as coming from Kanye West himself.
Kanye West's rant also points out the people who run Twitter, saying that they should not be allowing these aliases to post as if they were him.
"The people at Twitter know I don't have a f***ing Twitter so for them to allow someone to pose as me and accumulate over a million names is irresponsible and deceitful to [their] faithful users... Hey Twitter, take the so-called Kanye West Twitter down now... Why? Because my caps lock key is LOUD!!!!!" For the internet illiterate, that means he's mad, very mad.
Do you think Kanye West is just ranting just to rant again, or does he have a valid point underneath all of the yelling? Do you even have a Twitter account? We know we do. After you post your opinion on this, you can check out the Desi Hits! Twitter page here! Don't worry, it's 100% real, no aliases, rambling caps lock paragraphs! Enjoy!

Karan Johar in Trouble with the Law

By: Mufsin Mahbub
Looks like Filmmaker Karan Johar may be going to the doghouse. His Dharma Productions Company is now facing a lawsuit in the US for not paying local workers and actors hired for the shooting of a Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's next venture in Philadelphia, reports an American news website.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News website, Karan Johar's production house teamed with Australia's Swish Films to shoot a few scenes in Philadelphia last autumn and then left owing money to hundreds of local actors and vendors.

Now, the two companies - Dharma Productions and Swish Films - have been sued, according to documents filed in Common Pleas Court here, the report said. The lawsuit seeks in excess of $150,000 to be paid to in unpaid services and expenses for 25 of the vendors.
Those named in the lawsuit include Fishtown bar Johnny Brenda's (owed $972), Mike Lemon Casting (owed $7,971) and Kitchen Sink Fabrications (owed $1,060). The lawsuit also needed a restraining order that would prevent representatives of Dharma Productions from leaving the US with its possessions, above all the footage already shot.

Dharma Productions, which had reportedly changed its name to Karma Films while it continued to shoot the Rensil D'Silva directorial venture, had hired Swish Films to manage production of the feature film.
The quarrel struck when a Swish producer sent out checks in December last year warning actors, vendors and crew members to wait until after Jan 9 to cash them. The checks bounced leaving more than $500,000 in unpaid bills.
Dharma has since offered certain workers half the amount they are owed in return for signing a waiver that nullifies any legal action against the company. In other cases, Dharma paid the full amount owed, including to the City of Philadelphia and Teamsters Local 107.
Dharma and Swish will be hit with more lawsuits this week, said Center City lawyer Michael H. Rosenthal, who said he will file a suit on behalf of 60 actors and independent contractors.
Do you think that Karan Johar will get out of this lawsuit mess? Give us your feedback.

John Lennon's Bloodstained Clothes To Be Shown in Exhibit

A new exhibit is ongoing in New York City today displaying the memorabilia of one of music's most enduring icons. John Lennon: The New York City Years opened this week at the Rock & Roll Annex NYC on Monday and it is featuring some rare items from the former Beatles great. Items taken for the exhibit came from the Rock & Roll Museum in Cleveland and the John Lennon Museum in Tokyo. Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, also provided a few items of him that she kept over the years.

The most interesting item that will be present will be the bloodstained clothes still in a paper bag that John Lennon wore the balmy night of December 8, 1980 when he was fatally shot in front of his apartment building in New York City by crazed fan Mark David Chapman. Yoko Ono, who watched the murder take place, admitted that it was a tough decision to add those clothes to this exhibit.

"The decision to include [that item] was pretty hard," Ono said. "I thought I might be criticized for it, but it's very important now for people to understand what violence is about."
Plenty of other items will be on display, including guitars, lyric books, and some of the letters regarding John Lennon's deportation case. Former US President Richard Nixon attempted to have Lennon deported from the United States due to his influence in the anti-war movement that wound up defining him as an anti-war hero and political activist. The deportation proceedings lasted for about four years until Lennon was finally given a green card to stay in what would become his adopted home until his death: New York City.
Yoko Ono and curator Jim Henke made sure that this exhibit would be held in New York City, a place that John Lennon fell in love with.

"I know it's a kind of a sad and very poignant kind of paradox, I think, that he loved this place so much and this (is) where he was killed," Ono said. She also said that John Lennon truly felt free in New York City. "New York meant freedom to (Lennon) in some ways. I think he realized even London had elements of conservatism, but here he felt freer. That's why when he came here, it was, 'Whoopee! I'm in New York.' "
The exhibit will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. There is no end date of as of yet for the exhibit, but sources say that the exhibit will at least be open for the remainder of the year. If you're ever in New York City, this should absolutely be an exhibit you should go see.
Do you think it was a good idea to have the bloodstained clothes he wore when he was murdered at the exhibit? Let us know your thoughts on this exhibit.

Bollywood Strike May End This Week

By: Mufsin Mahbub
It looks like show time again, folks! After a lull five weeks of no entertainment, its back to movies, popcorn, samosa and coke this Friday onwards. Sure, there was 'Dashavtar' and 'Meri Padosan' as a few releases, but the less said the better.
The Hindi film industry is going through harsh times. Everyone's talking about recession (some people say it's going to get worse). On the other hand, piracy is getting wild and stronger by the day, spreading its business everywhere.
Worse, the movie-going habit has taken a complete backseat and it will take a real big film or a film with a powerful word of mouth to get audiences back to theatres. Which film will that be?
The corporates are feeling the heat and the 'Pink Slip' syndrome has caught up in Bollywood. It may be possible that several employees in corporate houses have been laid off from their services ever since this almost five-week strike. A film producer may not earn as much as much as an employee of a corporate house, who may've just walked in with an MBA degree, with a laptop on their shoulder.
Everyone's wondering, who'll make the first move - producers/distributors or multiplexes? Who'll call the truce? The producers/distributors are sticking to their terms, so are the theaters. Both need each other, but like a major distributor may say, they shouldn't stop the dialogue between themselves.
After a crucial meeting last Tuesday, when the two sides did not arrive at an agreement, there has been no official chat between them. A few people have been talking in their personal aptitude, but the leaders need to sort things out as soon as possible. The upcoming movie '99' starring Kunal Khemu and Soha Ali Khan is being released this week as a fresh start of Bollywood coming back from the strike.
Tell us what you think. Do you believe that an agreement may be approached so that Bollywood movies may be back in theaters? Give us your thoughts on it.
