Akshay Kumar Demanding Big Bucks

Akshay Kumar has enjoyed a long career in Bollywood with many ups and downs. Recently with mega-hits like, 'Welcome' and 'Singh is Kinng,' he's enjoying what is probably the highest point in his career thus far. However, even more recently he's delivered two flops, one being the highly anticipated, 'Chandni Chowk to China, ' and the other thriller, '8 x 10 Tasveer.' Yet, Akshay isn't letting those two flops get to him when it comes to pay demands! In fact, Akshay still demands an astronomical amount that leaves many producers shocked.

Something like that happened when writer Rumi Jaffery was directing the comedy movie, 'Life Partner.' Rumor is, that Akshay was asked to play one of the lead characters in the film, and Akshay made dates available on his busy calendar for the film. But then came that pesky little acting fee, or not so little in Akshay's case! He apparently quoted a shocking amount that left producer duo, Abbas-Mastan in disbelief. It's because of this, Abbas and Mastan decided to drop Akshay Kumar and hired comedic actor Govinda instead. Now if you remember Akshay and Abbas-Mastan have quite a history together as he has appeared in many of their films including, 'Ajnabee' and 'Aitraaz.'

Apparently writer, Rumi Jaffery wasn't so happy about Akshay Kumar being dropped as he had written the movie with Akshay in mind and had always wanted him to appear in it. However, he had no choice at the time and now we hear even he is now pleased that Govinda has fit into the role of a divorce lawyer very well, and is no longer disappointed about Akshay not doing the movie.

Question is - will Akshay Kumar lose out on good scripts and projects because of his high priced demands? His big budget films, "Kambakkht Ishq" and "Blue" are releasing soon, but as 'Chandni Chowk to China' proved, big budget doesn't always equal hit film. So what do you guys think? Is Akshay Kumar being too strict with his fee amount, or is he warranted in doing so? Drop us a comment with your thoughts!
