Sona Family Goes Bollywood

Make Some Noise AlbumLook whose joining the Bollywood music scene. First we saw Urban Desi artists such as Jay Sean, Veronica, and Hard Kaur hit B-town and bring us a number of hits doing so. Now the Sona Family can join that elite circle because their songs 'Taali Bajao' and 'Glassy are a part of the soundtrack for the movie "Fast Forward."

The song 'Taali Bajao' has gotten a face lift for the movie with an added Hindi verse. Harry Sona from the Sona Family tells us, "Anjum Rizvi, the film's producer, heard 'Taali' and immediately knew it was a hit but just needed a little more Hindi in there, so me and Mr Riz hit the studio and wrote the Hindi verse in a cross hip hop singing style and it turned out wickedly". The video weaves together Sona Family's original video with scenes of the movie's starlets dancing. We can see the competition between the dancers in the film along with their fresh attitude and slick moves.

"Fast Forward" is a full-fledged film about dance. The movie stars Vinod Khanna, Akshay Kapoor and a number of other hot, young actors and actresses. This dance flick is not one of purely Kathak and Bhangra styles of dance; rather it has a "Step Up" vibe with hints of Hip Hop and Latin choreography. This movie packs in some sexy and catchy dance numbers and follows the love stories and drama in each dancer's life. After all, it's a Bollywood movie and has to capture the love and hate in every story. Bollywood is at the movie's core, with a touch of Urban and Western flair and it's exactly what we see on the soundtrack.

"Fast Forward" has a soundtrack that includes 14 tracks! Along with the original songs for the movie, the film features some familiar songs and artists. Shamur, Panjabi MC, and Tigerstyle are just a few of the featured artists along with the Sona Family.

We asked Harry what he thought about having their song featured in "Fast Forward." She said, "I think it's great for us to be associated with this movie because we are an urban Asian group with our roots in hip hop and break dance, battling is one those pillars of hip hop culture. This movie embraces that and tells a story of fighting adversity to be the champions and best of the best and that's what we as Sona Family try to do with our music be the best. As Mr Riz says in the 1st verse of Taali 'S O N A fam who the best let me see you put that S on ya chest.'"
