The 10th Annual South Asian Filmi Festival is taking place in Toronto in a four-day event starting with today's 2nd Annual Music Video Night. Well known Canadian music personality Raoul Juneja (a.k.a. Deejay Ra) returns to host the event. Juneja also has programmed the entire night. Jay Sean and Richard Pengelley, director of Jay's "Down" music video, will be presented with an award, but since Jay can't make it to the festival, he is sending over a video acceptance speech.
Karen David, who has a cameo in the upcoming comedy "Couples Retreat," will feature her music video "Magic Carpet Ride," which you can view below:
Trickbaby's track "Nine Parts," directed by Rohan Sippy, will also be featured at the event. The music video stars Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra (whose house was flooded the day of the shoot!) check out the video below:
Rapper Imaan Faith will also attend the event to showcase his video "Wanna Be Loved," featuring Akon protege Colby O’Donis, best known for his appearance on Lady Gaga’s Grammy-nominated "Just Dance." Check out the video:
Montreal R&B group The Bilz will display their video "One Voice" to raise awareness and support for the award-winning War Child
Urban Desi group Swami's sci-fi, high tech video "Electro Jugni" is also part of the video line up. Diamond "Swami" Duggal can be proud of his band as they just spent a year working with Shania Twain on her album "Up!."
Before the music video night, the Filmi short films segment will be shown where Montreal pop singer/songwriter Prita has a short film premiering, which she directed herself, and she'll also be in attendance at the music video night as will many other local South Asian Canadian artists who want to show support for the event.
Well there you have it. What do you guys think of these artists getting featured at this big event? Send us your feedback.
