Amitabh Bachchan Pays Respects to Prakash Mehra

Legendary Bollywood filmmaker, Prakash Mehra, died on May 17th at the age of 69. Mehra had been suffering from prolonged illnesses and had his final stunt with pneumonia and multiple organ failure this past weekend. His funeral took place at the Oshiwara cremation grounds in Mumbai, India on Monday. By his side was his family as well as the acting community, most notably Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh Bachchan's career was launched by Mehra in the late 70's with the film "Zangeer". After that, the two teamed up to create multiple blockbusters, making Amitabh the iconic Bollywood superstar he is today. The talented duo unfortunately split ways after they worked on the 1989 Bollywood film "Jaadugar" together; the films failure being the leading cause.

Upon notice of Mehra's recent stays at the hospital, Amitabh reportedly paid him several visits in hopes to patch up their rocky relationship. On Monday, Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek attended Mehra's funeral to pay last respects to the man that made Amitabh a star. Also in attendance was a slew of the Bollywood fraternity such as Yash Chopra and Bappi Lahiri.

Aside from launching Big B, Mehra was also responsible for directing many of Bollywood's top actors, including Vinod Khanna. His career in the film industry began in 1950 as a production controller. Soon after, Merah made his directing debut with the film "Haseena Maan Jayegi". Since then, Mehra produced hits that won over the Bollywood community, making him a cherished and beloved director.
