Hollywood in India, Again and Again

Hollywood can't get enough of India. The big screens are revving up for yet another Hollywood film that takes place in India.

Kal Penn, Martin Sheen, and Mischa Barton will star in the upcoming film "Bhopal: Prayer for Rain." The new Hollywood in India movie was filmed in Hyderabad, India and is about the intertwined lives of people in a massive industrial disaster.

Mischa Barton has been avid about learning from the culture she was immersed in while filming. She shares her thoughts about what she experienced on her blog.

She's been surprised by the peaceful intermingling of faiths that she's encountered. "I've been having an amazing spiritual exploration visiting Hindu temples and learning about Buddhism, both beautiful religions. Hyderabad where we're filming is a real inspiration in the fact that Christians, Muslims and Hindus all get along so harmoniously," she said.

Mischa is also surprised at herself, for what she's gained from working in India. She said, "I used to make fun of people who were all into yoga and chai tea, thinking it was another ridiculous health fad. But now I'm that person! First of all, Masala Chai tea, the traditional way with milk and sugar is delicious, and this is coming from a Brit who only likes my breakfast tea!"

Despite gaining a lot from working on the film in India, Mischa is disappointed about one thing. She said, "I must say my goal coming here was to learn to play the sitar and it's coming along real slow as apparently it's not that easy to procure a great sitar teacher here, I guess it's not the late 60's with Ravi Shankar and George Harrison!"

"Bhopal: Prayer for Rain" is slated to come out in 2010, maybe by then Mischa will have mastered the sitar.

What do you think about India's influence on Hollywood and vice versa? What about Mischa Barton? Let us know below.
