In case you missed the seventh season of 'American Idol' then you might not know who Sanjaya Malakar is. He's the half Desi, half white lanky teenager from Seattle, Washington who made it to the top 10 on the popular show. He became well known for his wacky hairstyles, soft-spoken attitude and a let's just say, not so great voice! After his 15 minutes of fame seemed to fade away and he was reduced to playing at Bat Mitzvahs, we thought we'd seen the last of Sanjaya. Well turns out that's just not the case, because he's baaack!!!
Desi Hits! has learned that Sanjaya has just been added to the cast of the US television network's show, 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.' It's a show which plops celebrities into the jungles of Costa Rica for four weeks as they battle against each other. The show starts on June 1st. Sanjaya Malakar joins previously announced contestants, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Janice Dickinson, Geraldo Rivera, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag and former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, who might actually not get to join the cast depending on how his criminal trail goes. But some are wondering, does Sanjaya Malakar even qualify as a celebrity anymore?
Plus it turns out Sanjaya hasn't just been playing at Bat Mitzvahs, oh no, the 'star' has been busy recording a new album and writing a memoir, both titled, 'Dancing to the Music in My Head,' which were both released earlier this year (who knew?!) Wow, guess he's lived a complicated life in his 19 years! Anyone out there read the book or bought the album, let us know!
