Last night became a historical night for the 4 year old Indian Idol series, as for the first time a woman has taken home the title! That's right; Sourabhee Debbarama has become the first female winner in the finale of Indian Idol season 4! The North-Eastern singing sensation is on top of the world as she's gained fame, money, and seen her dreams come true all in one night!
Before she won, Sourabhee stated in an interview that she had prepared a list of things she wants to do if she were to become the next Indian Idol. Sourabhee said she wanted to release her own album, give the Idol car that she would win to her father and donate the prize money to the chief minister's relief fund in Tripura. Wow, now that sounds like a noble girl, with great intentions!
From the beginning she was touted as a full package and no doubt lead to her smooth sailing win. Plus she's not only getting offers for singing, but also acting! While Sourabhee hasn't said anything specific on acting, she maintains that she in not a singer, but rather an artist, leaving all of her options open, but relaying that singing is her first love however. She's said that her favorite actress is Amrita Rao and that she would love to sing a song that would be filmed on the actress and her favorite music directors are Anu Malik and AR Rahman.
The finale saw Sourabhee along with her parents and a gaggle of Bollywoos stars like Katrina Kaif, John Abraham and Sonali Bendre as Sourabhee took home a contract worth Rs. 10 million and a TATA Wing car. And the celebrations have extended to Sourabhee's home state where people have been seen dancing on the streets. Congrats to Sourabhee, looks like she has a bright future ahead of her!
