The world will never forget the victims of November's Mumbai attacks. So many around the world are still doing their part to aid in relief for those who were affected. That's why Lakme and IMG came together over the weekend to introduce a one of a kind fashion show to benefit these victims and to give a clear message to terrorists that the City of Mumbai is "open for business."
The new event titled 'Mai Mumbai (I am Mumbai)' will use India's best models, Bollywood movie stars, athletes, as well as social and business leaders as models to showcase some awesome creations. The pieces will then be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the victims of the November attacks.
US based hotelier Vikram Chatwal will present the show. He said of the event “Mai Mumbai’ is a great step towards healing for the Indian and World communities. By bringing the spotlight to Mumbai and highlighting the seemingly endless pool of talent, IMG has helped place Indian fashion onto the global runway. To share this exciting time with my good friends Naomi and Fern makes it that much more special.”
International model Naomi Campbell is putting a lot of her time and effort into this project through 'Fashion for Relief' and helping to organize the show which will take place on March 28th.
Naomi Campbell's 'Fashion for Relief,' charity fashion show and auction was created in 2005 and will hopefully aid in bringing help to the victims. Advisor Anil Chopra of Lakmé, says, “Lakme Fashion Week innovates through new avenues not only to give the fashion fraternity a platform to grow but also to position India into the global map. ‘
Mai Mumbai’ which actively involves the two International personalities, Vikram Chatwal and Naomi Campbell, is a response to Mumbai and New York’s similar tragic incidents.
With this initiative we look forward to take the fashion fraternity to make a statement against the global terror the world is facing today." Leave us your thoughts on the show.
